AI in Jasper Mail
What the AI does, what runs without you asking, and what you can switch off.
Jasper Mail's AI uses Anthropic's Claude. Most of it runs only when you click something. A few things run on their own, and this page lists them with what they send and how to stop them where you can.
AI you ask for
- In an open email, More has Draft reply, Suggest replies, Summarise and Translate…. A summary lists action items, and can turn them into a ClickUp task or a calendar event.
- In the composer, Rewrite… offers Shorter, Longer, Friendlier, More formal, Fix grammar and Clearer.
- Write with AI drafts an email from a short note, in the tone and language you pick.
- Send in… translates your email before it goes, and Fill with AI fills a template's blanks.
- Catch me up summarises up to 20 of your newest unread emails from their senders, subjects and previews.
Each person can use AI writing help up to 10 times a minute and 150 times a day.
AI that runs without you asking
Write suggestions in my style
On by default. The first time you use an AI draft or reply suggestion, Jasper asks Claude to describe how you write. It sends up to 40 of your own chat messages and 10 of your own sent emails from the last 90 days. Jasper keeps the resulting note, rebuilds it when it is more than a week old, and uses it, with a few of your recent sent emails, whenever it drafts for you. It is private to you.
To turn it off:
- In the desktop app, open Settings… and choose AI and assistant.
- Turn off Write suggestions in my style. Jasper deletes what it learned straight away.
Shared-inbox triage
Every new thread in a shared inbox goes to Claude with its subject, sender and the first 500 characters of the message. Claude tags it as Lead, Invoice, Support, Spam or Other and writes a one-line summary. There is no switch to turn this off; the only limit is 200 threads per organisation per day. Shared inboxes are open only to Shakewell's own mailboxes, so today it runs only on Shakewell's own shared inboxes.
The Today note
If you don't use the morning briefing, the first time you open Today on a workday Jasper asks Claude for a short note. It uses the sections ticked in your briefing settings: by default these include the subjects and senders of emails waiting for your reply and of new GitHub, ClickUp and Figma mail, along with chat, tasks and meetings. To keep your mail out of it, open Briefing settings on Today and untick Needs reply and What came through.
Off unless you turn it on
- Suggest replies automatically (in AI and assistant): shows reply ideas for the latest message without you clicking. It uses the same daily allowance.
- Allow my AI assistant to read my mail: lets your own Claude, connected through Jasper's MCP server, read your mail. In the desktop app, click Set up on the web next to Your own Claude to find it.
Limits
- Shared-inbox triage can't be switched off.
- "Ask your inbox" needs a Gmail mailbox connected with Google sign-in, which only Shakewell's own accounts have. It turns your question into a Gmail search; it isn't a search of meaning.
- The AI mail actions share one daily allowance, except Translate… and Send in…, which have their own limit.
- AI suggestions can be wrong. Read a summary or draft before you rely on it.
