Duplicate Detection

Find and clean up duplicate tasks in your ClickUp backlog.

Overview

Jasper can detect potentially duplicate tasks in your ClickUp backlog using AI-powered similarity analysis. This helps keep your backlog clean and prevents duplicate work.

Using Backlog Cleanup

Scan for Duplicates

Access the backlog cleanup tool to find duplicate tasks.

Open Backlog Cleanup
  1. Navigate to Settings → Backlog Cleanup
  2. Select the ClickUp space to scan
  3. Click Scan for Duplicates
  4. Review detected duplicate pairs with similarity scores
  5. Take action: dismiss, link as related, or merge tasks

How It Works

The duplicate detection system uses AI to analyze:

  • Task titles - Similar names or descriptions
  • Task content - Similar requirements or user stories
  • Keywords - Matching technical terms or feature names
  • Context - Related project areas or components

Similarity Scores

Each potential duplicate pair is assigned a similarity score:

Score Meaning Recommended Action
90-100% Very likely duplicate Review and merge
70-89% Probably duplicate Review carefully
50-69% Possibly related Link as related or dismiss

Actions

Dismiss

Mark the pair as "not duplicates". They won't appear in future scans. Use this when tasks are similar but intentionally separate.

Link as Related

Create a relationship between the tasks in ClickUp without merging them. Useful for tasks that are related but not duplicates.

Merge Tasks

Combine two tasks into one:

  • Choose which task to keep as the primary
  • Comments and attachments are merged
  • The duplicate task is archived or deleted

Caution: Merging tasks is irreversible. Always review both tasks carefully before merging to ensure no important information is lost.

Scheduling Scans

You can configure automatic periodic scans:

  • Weekly - Scan every Monday morning
  • Bi-weekly - Scan every other week
  • Monthly - Scan on the 1st of each month

Results are emailed to organization admins and available in the dashboard.
